Autism researcher Francesca Happe characterizes the autistic mind as consisting of deep specific skills combined with difficulty in "getting the gist" of situations. This book addresses how neurotypical leaders can empower those who do not easily get the gist so that they can contribute with their deep specific skills, or what the title refers to as Super Powers.
This book provides a theoretically valid system of practical action for team leadership. Each chapter focuses on a specific leadership challenge such as motivation, accountability, etc. The chapter will first review what we know about the theory of the specific leadership challenge and then demonstrate how to apply this knowledge to real-world situations. Finally, each chapter will explore what we know about modifying the leadership approach to empower team members on the Autism spectrum to contribute their deep specific skills to the team and the company.
